The eclectic, boy-genius developer of Ethereum, Vitalik Buterin, is bullish on life and wants to keep this journey going as long as possible. It has become known that Buterin has donated 2.4 million dollars worth of Ethereum to the SENS Research Foundation. SENS announced the generous donation, as their Chief Science Officer, Dr. Aubrey de Grey, has made quite an influence on Buterin.
Buterin has been quoted,
“I’ve been a fan of Aubrey’s work since I first read Ending Aging when I was a teenager, and I am happy to have been blessed with the opportunity to personally support SENS’s efforts. Their focus on creating solutions to the diseases of aging, one of the greatest problems facing humanity, is very much in line with my goal to positively impact the lives of millions of people around the world.”
The SENS Research Foundation has previously received a million dollar crypto donation in the form of Bitcoin from the anonymous Pineapple Fund.
SENS Research Foundation is a California based, non-profit organization and regenerative medical research foundation co-founded by Michael Kope, Aubrey de Grey, Jeff Hall, Sarah Marr and Kevin Perrot. Its activities include research programs and public relations work for the application of regenerative medicine to aging.
The foundation’s stated goal is to “transform the way the world researches and treats age-related disease.” It advocates the ‘SENS’ approach, which it describes as “the repair of living cells and extracellular material in situ,” an approach which it contrasts with geriatric medicine’s focus on specific diseases and infirmities, and biogerontology’s focus on intervention in metabolic processes. It funds research and uses outreach and education in order to expedite the various regenerative medicine research programs.
