Mike Novogratz, the owner the cryptocurrency merchant bank Galaxy Digital, has just hired Richard Kim as Chief Operating Officer. Kim was a London-based executive at Goldman Sachs and will most likely move to New York to fulfill his duties on site.
Kim’s time at Goldman included administrative roles as well as working on the team to set up cryptocurrency trading at the Goldman trading desk. Kim isn’t the only ex-Goldman alumni to leave their positions in order to join cryptocurrency startups. Michael Bucella, another Goldman’s executive left in January to join BlockTower Capital, as well as James Radecki who left his managing director role at Goldmans to take on the position of head of business development at Cumberland Mining.
Galaxy Digital launched earlier this year in February by ex-hedge fund manager and partner of Goldman Sashs, Mike Novogratz. The New York-based firm plans to trade crypto as well as make principal investments, manage assets for other clients and provide advice on blockchain-related ventures.
