Coinbase Announces New Suite of Institutional Products

In anticipation for when the largest financial institutions in the world begin trading cryptocurrency, Coinbase has announced a suite of new institutional products.

Coinbase Custody

A digital asset custodial service that provides strict financial controls and secure storage for institutional investors wanting to trade digital cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc. Coinbase has partnered with a SEC regulated broker-dealer to offer services like third-party auditing and financial reporting validation that operates at the high standard of the SEC.

Coinbase Markets

Coinbase plans on continuing to develop its electronic marketplace with Coinbase Markets. Coinbase Markets will provide a centralized pool of liquidity for all Coinbase products. New features will also be added like low latency performance, on-premise datacenter colocation services, institutional connectivity and access, and settlement and clearing services. These additions will allow for a more efficient price discovery process to occur, creating tighter markets, deeper liquidity, and increased certainty of execution.

Coinbase Prime

A new platform designed specifically to provide a suite of tools and services that institutional investors rely on when trading crypto. Features like lending and margin financing products, high touch and low touch execution services like over-the-counter (OTC) trading and algorithmic orders, and net market data and research products will be available. The platform will also have multi-user permissions and white-listed withdrawal address.
